Solution 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 with Integrated Brake Controller and Electric Over Hydraulic Brake

Question:

Hello Etrailer, My apologies for asking this as it is probably asked tons before, I just cannot seem to find anything specific to my year. I own a Myco boat trailer with a Hydrastar MHBA-16 EoH system. I get a service trailer brake systeminch in the Sierra when connected to this trailer. Im seeing conflicting info about the 2019, where some say the GM IBC should be fully compatible, some others say I need the HBA-CAM. Ive taken the truck to GMC who say there is no issue with the truck. I also have a full electric brake trailer that functions perfectly with the IBC. Im just looking for you to confirm my suspicion that I need the converter box. Thanks much for your time.

What we've found is that the factory brake controllers don't work as consistently with electric over hydraulic brakes like the Hydrastar part # HBA16 that you have even when they are supposed to. Some setups work totally fine, others are intermittent, and other not at all. The adapter part # HBA-CAM would take care of the issue but I'd rather you go with a P3 brake controller part # 90195 as it's 100 percent reliable with EOH brakes and there would be no risk of them not working reliably.

To install the controller you just need the install harness part # 3016 which is custom fit for your truck.
