Features to know about

Upgrade Old or Dragging Brakes: Complete Disc Kit for 6,000-lb Axles

If your drum brakes are worn or not stopping as they should, this Hydrastar kit gives you a full electric-over-hydraulic disc brake setup. Each 12" Dacromet-coated hub-rotor assembly includes the inner (25580) and outer (15123) bearings along with the races, seals, and grease caps. The actuator ties right into your existing brake controller for smooth, even braking that’s consistent even at highway speeds.

Boost Stopping Confidence on Heavy Loads: Electric-Over-Hydraulic Actuator

Hauling weight down long grades takes solid braking power. The included actuator activates the trailer brakes the instant you press the pedal in your tow vehicle, giving fast response and shorter stopping distances than drum brakes. You get the same controlled feel as a truck brake system, with no lag or uneven grab.

Tackle Install Without the Hassle: Everything Needed for a Tandem Axle Setup

This kit comes ready to bolt on with all the lines and fittings for a tandem-axle trailer. It includes 188", 76", and 48" steel brake lines plus four 21" flexible rubber lines and all brass fittings, clamps, and self-tapping screws. It’s built so you can lay it out cleanly on your frame without hunting for extra parts.

Built for Real-World Conditions: Rust-Resistant Dacromet Coating

Road spray and salt can destroy uncoated rotors fast. The four Dacromet-coated disc brake end kits resist corrosion to keep braking consistent over time. With fewer moving parts than drum brakes and coated hardware throughout, there’s less upkeep and fewer replacements down the road.

Engineered for Fit and Strength: 6 on 5-1/2" Bolt Pattern with Hub-and-Rotor Design

Each hub is designed for 6,000-lb axles and uses a standard 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern that fits common wheel sizes. The integrated hub-and-rotor design keeps everything aligned for smoother rotation and balanced braking. It’s a solid upgrade that delivers consistent performance season after season.

Great setup. Really improved the stopping power of my 36' fifth wheel. Just completed a coast to coast trip. The extra stopping power provided additional safety and peace of mind.

by:

It's been working great for the past year. Wish I had the money to put on all of my trailers.

by:

The quality of the product was good. Everything went together and function as intended. Thanks

by:

Installed fairly easily, works great. Stops much faster than the old drum brakes.

by:

Nice quality, fast shipment, and fairly easy installation. The brake line from the actuator to the first axle is quite long. I will go back with a custom line in the future, for now just coiled it up. William S was extremely helpful with my order.

by:

Overall a great kit. Only wish would be to use rubber lined SS adel clamps instead of the supplied plastic ones

by:

Prices, promptness of shipping and delivery, and customer service is the best I have ever done business with.

by:

looks great,not done yet.

Thanks for quickly resolving the shipping problem!!

The items seen good quality but the problem is with Hydrastar as a company, calling out customer service, packaging and shipping departments. If it wasn't for great effort from Fred at etrailer I don't thinkl I would try working with this brand again. The packaging was so bad that the rotors ate themselves up. The studs on one rotor scared the other inside the area where the dust cap sits also ruining several studs. The exterior box was in great shape. It was all on Hydrastar. After a week of waiting Fred finally reached someone. I finally received the replacements with the same subpar boxing as before. This time with only minor scratches. Install went well until we opened the actuator box and found a smashed cap. After another two weeks we finished this two month process with success. Don't try this during camping season and not without etrailers help.

Sorry about the difficulties you ran into there Bryan, but I'm glad we could help!!

Products just arrived yesterday, even though i requested packaging to be better (saw poor review comments on this before hand), it arrived in 2 large boxes that were battered to hell and opened up with contents exposed. Much to my surprise, it appears all parts are present and undamaged, going to install over weekend and will follow up with after install evaluation.

by:

Great product...fast shipping

by:

The manual is pretty bad, mostly because of the wiring diagram. FORTUNATELY, the assistance from etrailer and all the install videos are very helpful!
BUT, there is a need for some videos on installing all of this on a Travel Trailer. Mine is big and heavy, hence needing this kit to start with. Wiring the actuator has been a headache and a challenge because of bad diagrams, manuals and the unique layout of a Travel Trailer vs 5th wheel. The brake parts came in good shape and are of good quality. Yes, the brake parts are hefty and need better packaging from the manufacturer. Fortunately, all arrived successfully in the end.

  • Disc Brake Kit Recommendation for 2022 Grand Design Reflection 337RLS
Hey Dale, both DeeMax and Hydrastar make really nice disc brake components. Either kit is going to work really well for your 2022 Grand Design Reflection 337RLS. If you want the best of the best and don't mind paying for the premium brand then go with the DeeMax part # DE24NR. If you want basically still the best performance but at a better price the Hydrastar part # HYD44VR is what you want. Like you mentioned for an RV application this would be just fine compared to the stainless steel...

  • How To Prevent Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator From Drawing Power from Trailer Battery
Hey Steve, to avoid having the trailer battery power the actuator of the Hydrastar kit part # HYD44VR you would want to install a diode that only allows the current to go to the battery and not from the battery back to the actuator. For that you'd want the part # RM-690.

  • Roadmaster Comfort Ride and Disc Brakes for 2026 Alliance Avenue 32RLS
Hey Greg! The correct Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit for your 2026 Alliance Avenue 32RLS is the # RM49NQ. This includes the shock kit as well. Then for disc brakes I recommend the Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers # HYD44VR (Dacromet) or # HYD74VR (Dacromet with stainless calipers). This is a complete kit with everything you need to upgrade from electric brakes. Did you just trade in your Imagine for the Alliance Avenue? How are you liking...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Brakes to ShoreLand'r Boat Trailer
Hey Ryan! We don't have a way to identify your axle using the VIN so you will have to check and see what axle you have before we can find the right parts. I would start by checking the axle tag. It may have the capacity listed or, at least a serial number the axle manufacturer could use to identify it. If not, you will need to check and see what bearings you have. The part numbers may be stamped in the side or you can measure the inner diameter with a digital caliper # PTW80157. If you...

  • Will Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit HYD44VR Fit Tandem Axle Trailer with 6k Axles
Hey Aaron, this is a great question but the bearing difference won't matter because both bearing numbers have the same inner diameter of 1.25 inch which means the intended spindle size fit is the same. So long story short the part # HYD44VR does fit and comes with the best components to convert your setup to an electric over hydraulic disc setup. What do you haul with your trailer?

  • How to Determine if DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit With EOH Actuator is Right For Trailer Axle
Hey Guy, While I can't answer that directly as I don't know what axles you have, I can tell you how to figure out if the right kit for you is the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers # DE66AR. What it comes down to is knowing the bearing numbers; you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you...

  • What Is The Difference Between The Hydrastar Disc Brake Kits HYD44VR and HYD74VR?
Good question, Dale! It took me a few minutes of back and forth between the two Hydrastar disc brake kits to figure it out, but the only difference is that # HYD44VR uses all Dacromet coated parts and the # HYD74VR uses mostly Dacromet coated parts, but stainless steal calipers. Other than that, they are exactly the same. I see you ordered the full Dacromet # HYD44VR option and it will work perfectly fine with your 5th wheel. Have you done this kind of install before?

  • What Disc Brake Kit do I Need for My 6,000 Pound Tandem Axle Set-Up on My Trailer?
Hello Ed, Decided to make the swap to disc brakes, always a great idea. The # HSE7K-T1 is for 7,000 pound axles, so that is not going to work because the outer bearing will not match up to your spindle. The issue I am running into is that you chose the brake set for a 8 on 6 1/2" bolt pattern, most 6K axles have a 6 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern. • Looking For Disc Brake Conversion Kit For 2023 Alliance 295MK
Hello Michael, thanks for reaching out. We should have exactly what you need to convert your Alliance trailer to disc brakes. There is no way to use the VIN to look up exactly what you need though. There just isn't a universal VIN database for campers like there is for motor vehicles. The main thing I need to know is what axles your camper has, and hub/bearing info. The best way to find this our is using the casting number on your hubs. Brake drums should have a casting number right on...
