Question:
How far apart do the tracks need to be when using the tire strap system? I know the tires need to be directly on top of tracks, but what is a universal distance that will work for most cars and trucks?

I really wish there was an easy answer as to a safe track spacing with the Erickson E-Tracks # EM59150 to accommodate most vehicles, but the truth is that there are just too many possible widths to comfortably answer this without actually figuring out the tire widths on the particular vehicle you plan on hauling. Your best option is really to figure out the tire width on your vehicle and install the tracks accordingly on the trailer.
The Erickson Wheel- Tie-Down Strap # EM58523 that you referenced is perfect for securing the vehicle to the tracks.
If you plan on towing more than one vehicle with different tire widths your best option would be to simply install multiple tracks, such as on the customer-submitted photo I attached below.
