Do Hubs Go In Front or Behind Axle Tube When Installing Torsion Axle?
Updated 11/30/2019 | Published 11/29/2019 >
Question:
How do I determine the axle orientation? I have new axles without hubs on them. It seems that the spindle arms are not 90 degrees. Which way should they be mounted. Hub center in front of or behind the axle tube.

It sounds like you're trying to mount a torsion axle, so you'll want to mount the hub center behind the axle tube in order to correctly orient the axle. Your spindles won't be exactly 90 degrees from the hub face since the axles will flex a bit in the middle; once the axle is placed on the trailer, the weight of the trailer and load will correct this and allow your tires to run flat on the ground without worrying about abnormal wear.
