Does Yakima Control Key Lock and Unlock Accessories

Question:

Can any yakima key lock and unlock a different core number if the part numbers dont match? Cause I have a snowboard rack and it didnt come with locking keys but control key only. So I went and bought a new set of sks lock cores and keys and decided to see if the new key will work with the core that came with the rack. So it did work, the key actually locked and unlocked the core that came with the rack. Just wondering cause I probably gonna do a refund and just buy a replacement key instead to save me money.

I'm a little confused by your question, but it sounds like you are asking if the Control Key for Yakima Same Key System # Y8007835 can lock and unlock any of the Yakima lock cores. If that is the question, the answer is no, it will not be able to, and is designed only to remove a lock core that is already unlocked.

If you were asking if a key from any Yakima SKS lock core can open any lock, the answer to that is also no. You will need a specific key number to go with the lock core number. I have added a link to our entire selection of Yakima keys and lock cores if you are looking to match either; you only need to match the key number to the lock core or vice versa.
