Best Tire Chains For A 2014 Ford F-150 With LT265/70R17 Tire Size

Updated 11/07/2019 | Published 11/06/2019

Question:

I have a 2014 Ford F150 XL with tire sizes LT265/70 R17. The manual lists tire sizes that should not use chains, but my tire size is not one of them. I think I can use low clearance S Class type chains, but am not 100 sure about this. What can you recommend for chains and/or cables. Thanks

I took a look at the owner's manual for the 2014 Ford F-150 XL. Your tire size, LT265/70 R17 is not one of the tire sizes called out in the manual regarding not using snow chains. However, it does state to use Class S compatible chains on the Ford because of clearance issues.

For a Class S compatible tire chain with a convenient install, I recommend Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains part # TH04115267. The Konig Self-tension tire chains drape over the tire and then tighten with an easy push pedal that you can push down with your foot. I have put these chains on myself and they are easiest tire chain installation available that is also compatible with vehicles with less wheel well clearance. I have attached a video for your reference.

Your next best option for the Ford is the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains part # TH01594267 which still drapes over the wheel but you will need to make the tensioning connections yourself however they make it very easy for you with color coded connection points. I have attached a video of this snow chain as well.
