Kwikee Steps 909506000 Extend and Retract with Door While Override Switch Is On

Question:
I have a Kwikee RV step Model number 903206000 s/n 70126 manufacture date 03/06/03. Controller P/N 9095060000 The step extends when the screen door opens, retracts when the door is closed. With the step switch inside the door is in off position it still opens and retracts with the door opening and closing. Switch in on position, it does same. The power switch seems to be opening and closing the contacts. I removed the switch and disconnected the two wires. It made no difference as to function. I connected the wires from the switch together and it made no difference. Not sure where to go from here? I did disconnect the connections on the controller and cleaned as well as removed ground wire and reinstalled after cleaning. After doing all above step did stay out with power switch in off position but some time later it retracted on its own. Could never duplicate even after removing and replacing the controller wires again. HELP

The issue you are having your Kwikee Electric Steps could be attributed to a few different issues. The first issue could be that the override switch is not wired properly. I have attached for you below a photo that shows how the steps/switch should be wired. If the wiring is correct then I would be willing to bet the control board is malfunctioning therefore would need to be replaced. The correct replacement control board for you is the Replacement Control Unit for Kwikee Electric RV Steps part # LC379606 which was determined based off the part number from the old controller of 909506000.
