Can Lug Nuts On a Boat Trailer Be Lubricated for Easy Removal

Question:

I just purchased some new 1/2inch x 20 lug bolts from you. I had a difficult time removing the old ones. Is it ok to lubricate the new bolts with anti seize? Thanks

I have never personally put grease on either the lug nut or lug stud but I have heard of others who have without issue. If you were to reach out to the manufacturer they would also say not to put grease on either the lug nut or lug stud but this is mostly just preference. If you clean the lug nut and the lug stud thoroughly beforehand and do not over-torque then you should not have too much issue with removal. If you switch to a closed acorn style lug nut, part # 12CLN-L these are less likely to get stuck as debris cannot get in between the end of the stud/nut like with an open lug nut.
