Question:

I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma 4 door long bed with a Thule Xsporter rack in the bed.My truck also came with a factory installed rack over the cab of the truck. Would it be ok if I mounted the Yakima Double Haul to one of the Xsporter bars and to one of the factory bars over my cab? This would give me the widest spread and support for the double haul. I just don't know if the bed of my truck moves independently from the cab and don't want to break the double haul. Can I use the Yakima SmarT-Slot Kit 3 to mount the double haul into the t track in the top of my Thule XSporter Pro rack. It just says that it will work with most aftermarket t slots but does not specifically list the Thule XSporter. Thanks Let me know your thoughts?

First things first, yes, the SmarT-Slot Mounting Kit # Y07356 will work with the Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack # TH500XT-XK3 on your 2014 Toyota Tacoma so you can mount the Yakima DoubleHaul Rooftop Fly Rod Carrier # Y04087. That said, the DoubleHaul will also work with the Xsporter without the T-slot accessory kit, as it will be able to clamp around the Xsporter bars if you want to go that route.

And in regards to mounting part of the DoubleHaul to your Tacoma's roof rack and also to the Xsporter, yes, you can do that. This carrier will work with a crossbar spread between 27" and 108" - which is significantly larger than most accessories - so as long as the spread from your Xsporter to your roof rack bar is between 27" and 108" this will work.

You are also going to want to make the roof rack and Xsporter are approximately level with each other to ensure the DoubleHaul Fly Rod Carrier # Y04087 is as stable as possible when you are carrying your rods.
