How to Pick the Right Replacement Leaf Spring for my Trailer

Question:
My axle weight is 4940 lbs. I have a 5000 lbs rated axle. What size of springs 2200 or 2500.? I have tandem axles on my travel trailer sticker states 8800 GAWR but that is less than the actual axle weight of 4940.

The actual weight of the load isn't important when determining what springs you'll need- you will actually need to go by the axle capacity paired with the type of spring and its's length. For your 5000-lb axle, your single spring capacity will need to be at least 2500-lbs- but you'll also need to know whether or not they are double eyed or slipper springs, and how long they are (roughly, since worn springs will be slightly longer when measured eye to eye).
As far as springs we have available in your axle capacity, the double eye springs measure 25-1/4" from eye to eye and you would use part # e44SR . For slipper springs, those will measure 26-5/8" and you can use # SP-231275 . If you've got a different size from those measurements, let me know and I can recommend a different spring.
