Most Inexpensive 5th Wheel Hitch Setup for a 2006 Ford F-350

Updated 07/28/2020 | Published 08/23/2019

Question:

I have a 2006 Ford F350 Diesel Lariat Crew Cab Long Bed with the tow package. I need to get a 5th wheel hitch for a smaller 31foot x 8foot Heartland Pioneer trailer, the hitch only needs to be a 15000 towing capacity and 5000 weight, as thats the max the arm on my trailer can handle, too. I cant afford anything fancy. I just need to know the complete kit I need rails, lube plate, hitch that is compatible with my truck. Losing my job so I have to relocate with my trailer. Please help.

The most cost effective option we have for your 2006 Ford F-350 is the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Universal Installation Kit part # C16116. This hitch and install kit combo comes with everything that you need to tow a 5th wheel trailer and it is still a great quality option at a very cost effective price. It has a 16,000 lb weight capacity with 4,000 lb vertical load limit. It is very unlikey you would ever be anywhere near this or the 5,000 lb vertical load limit you said you needed. For a lube plate you can use the Curt Lube Plate for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # C16722.

The above is all backed by a five year warranty.

Hello, i have a 2006 F-350 King Ranch 8 ft. Bed Dually. It has the puck system installed ( im guessing from factory) but cannot find a hitch system that mention fitting this truck. Any info would help. Thanks

I don't believe Ford offered a factory puck system for your 2006 Ford F-350, so I'm thinking you have an aftermarket puck system installed in the bed. There's a decent chance it's the Reese Elite setup, for which you could use the excellent Reese Elite 20K # RP30921. Are there any markings on the under-bed hardware that refer to a manufacturer?

@ChrisR Ok Chris, Thanks that would explian things. I cannot find any markings on the underbed hardware. But, i measured the puck footprint. Front to back its 13”. And across with the axle it is 30”. If the RP30921 has these dimensions, i will be golden!

@ThomasS That's the exact puck spacing for the Reese Elite setup so I think you are indeed golden. The Reese # RP30921 should work perfectly.
