In order for an electric over hydraulic actuator like the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator part # HBA16 to work with the factory integrated brake controller on your 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD you will indeed need an adapter like the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter Module part # HBA-CAM.
