2002 Coleman Utah 13 inch Trailer Tire Replacement Recommendation
Updated 08/20/2019 | Published 08/19/2019 >
Question:
I have a 2002 Coleman Utah camper 3500 lb GVW and the factory 13inch tires have trouble handling the weight on large bumps or long 120 mile one way trips and do the tires in. A 14inch has about 1/4-3/8inch clearance front and back of wheel well but seem to handle the weight better. is there a better 13inch option or will the slim clearance on a large 14inch work ok?

The clearances you mentioned having in your fenders is a bit too tight to be safe when using the 14 inch diameter wheel and tires. The best option is going to be a higher capacity 13 inch radial trailer tire like the # AM10208 which is a size ST185/80R13. This has a weight capacity of 1,710 lbs at 65 psi and a higher speed rating of 81 mph which will help on your longer road trips. You do want to make sure you are inflating the tires to the max psi rating of 65 psi so that you ensure you get the full weight capacity and also you minimize heat build up which is normally what kills trailer tires.
I attached a review video for this tire for you to check out as well for more info.
