Question:

I had a Curt hitch installed on the car and the muffler vibration hitting the hitch sounds like a snare drum in the car. Will the Draw-Tite be far enough away from the muffler to eliminate that drumming? Have you had any customer complaints about noise in a 2013 Elantra Coupe?

We have had some reports of this happening with other model years of the Elantra, so it's not uncommon. The good news is that there are some potential fixes for this. You can first start by taking vice grips and trying to bend the hanger to try to create more clearance between the muffler and hitch. If this hanger is bolted to the frame, you can unbolt it, and re-position the hanger so it moves the exhaust away from the hitch. The last fix would be to replace the rubber isolator that serves as the link between the hanger welded to the exhaust system and the hanger attached to the vehicle frame.

I have attached a help article that outlines in more detail how exactly all of these fixes are going to be accomplished as well as a step-by-step walk-through of each. If you're still experiencing rattle after all of these have been tried, you may just want to switch to the Draw-Tite # 24902 .
