Question:

Hi, I have a 1.25inch hitch. Can you offer a comparison of the Kuat Transfer V2 for 1 bike and the Inno Tire Hold for 1 bike? Need assistance in deciding which would be the better most reliable purchase.

When choosing between the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU64FR and the Inno Tire Hold # INH110, there are a few differences to consider. While both racks have a weight capacity of 60 pounds, the Transfer V2 has a slightly larger bike compatibility range than the Tire Hold. It is compatible with tire diameters of 18-29 inches and wheelbases up to 50 inches long while the Tire Hold is compatible with 20-29 inch tire diameters and wheelbases up to 48 inches long. Another difference is the weight of the racks: the Transfer V2 weighs 26 pounds while the Tire Hold weighs 43 pounds.

As far as what's included with the racks, the Tire Hold already comes with a hitch lock and a bike lock which is an additional add-on with the Transfer V2. The hitch lock add-on is the # HL1.

In the end, since the Tire Hold has a much more secure "wrap-around" tire mounts, I recommend going with the Tire Hold. It also more of a heavy-duty rack that will provide a longer overall life. Since you have a hitch installed already, I recommend making sure you have enough shank length on the Tire Hold to clear your rear bumper. In order to confirm this, I recommend measuring the center of your hitch's pinhole to the outside surface of your rear bumper. If that length does not exceed 6", you are good to go!

The only exception to this recommendation is whether you happen to have fat-bike tires wider than 3 inches. If that is the case, the Kuat Transfer V2 is the only route. This is because you can add the Kuat Phat Bike Adapter # APBK to accommodate bike tires up to 4-1/2" wide. The Tire Hold does not have an option to upgrade the tire width compatibility.
