Updated 08/08/2019 | Published 08/07/2019 >
Question:
Will this weight distribution hitch work on a trailer with 3inch square tube frame? Also is there any reason I cannot install on a trailer with an aluminum frame? Fitment to Core Ice house

Expert Reply:
The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control part # EQ37060ET will fit your 3" square tube frame because it fits frames up to 6" tall.
However, most trailer manufacturers do not recommend using weight distribution on aluminum frames because they cannot stand up to the installation like steel frames can. I was not able to confirm with Ice House if they recommend it. I recommend to look in the manual for your particular trailer or ask the dealership you purchased the trailer from.
If they are okay with it, then the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control is for tongue weights between 200 lbs - 600 lbs so you can to make sure your loaded tongue weight falls into that window. Also, I see that your trailer is an enclosed box trailer, I recommend to make sure you have enough clearance to position the brackets 27" - 32" back from center of coupler because the Equal-i-zer systems require specific bracket positioning.
If Ice House says you can use weight distribution and you don't have enough bracket clearance or the tongue weight is not what you need on this particular system please let me know and I can help you further.
