How Would Roller Bunks Install on Karavan Boat Trailer

Updated 03/03/2020 | Published 07/04/2019

Question:

I’m wanting to replace wooden bunkers with roller bunkers on my Karavan bot trailer. Y’all have answered a previous question with the suggestion to use two four foot roller bunks on each side. Please show or illustrate how do so on the pictured trailer.

Since the picture you submitted belongs to Karavan I can't post it here on our site, but if you check out the attached picture you can see how a very similar trailer had a set of rollers like the part # CE27710 installed.

For a set of swivel brackets like what you see in the picture that are holding the bunks you'd then want the part # CE10003G-4.

I also attached a couple install video links for you to check out as well.

Do you know of anyone who has installed these on a CE Smith Model 48810 Multi-Sport trailer? In particular where this model trailer is used to transport a Twin Troller X10 boat? The TT X10 has three ribs running down the tunnel between the pontoons so my concern with these rollers is that only the middle rollers would be supporting the boat on the two outer ribs. Can the middle rollers be removed so that the two outside rollers could carry the weight of the both on either side of each rib? I’m not sure is this would cause problems with the hull if the bunks or rollers are not supporting the boat on the outer two ribs?

Adding rollers like # CE27710 to your CE Smith 48810 Multi-Sport Trailer isn't an issue at all. They will mount and work great. I'm not sure how well they would do with your Twin Troller X10, though. I don't recommend removing the center rollers from the bunks, as this would reduce their capacity and support, and because of those ribs on the boat's underside there's not really a good way to mount them otherwise. I honestly think your best option will be with the standard carpeted bunks that come included with the trailer.
