Should Landing Gear Motor and Switch Get Hot on Fifth Wheel Trailer
Updated 06/03/2019 | Published 06/01/2019 >
Question:
Our landing gear motor and switch burned up on our 2019 heartland torque 325. We replaced both but the motor and switch seems to get hot. Is this normal?

The landing gear motor and the switch should not get hot like you are describing so it sounds like you may have another issue with your landing gear, such as the gearbox or some other component going bad. It sounds like you may have a rotten gearbox, which you could potentially use the Replacement Aluminum Gearbox # LG-179015 which works with the majority of landing gear brands, including Stromberg Carlson and Lippert, which you almost certainly have one of.
It is also possible, though less likely, that you have some internal component going bad with your landing gear leg(s) but based on how new your rig is, that is less likely than just your gearbox being problematic.
