Question:

Can you explain to me what they mean with stabilizing straps that will be needed for the Curt hitch when a bike rack is attached? Where would they go? I am trying to buy the right hitch for my 2014 VW Tiguan and saw that his # C13133 is apparently the right one for it. I have a Thule bike rack and never before used stabilizing straps other than to hold the bikes on. Thank you!

So the easiest hitch solution for your 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan is going to be a hitch that does not require the stabilizer strap when carrying a bike rack like the etrailer part # e98906.

Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well. This is basically a precaution they require to help take some of the shock out of the hitch when on the road.
