Troubleshooting Solera Battery Powered Awning that Won't Function After Installing New Battery

Question:

I installed this awning on my camper last summer. Weve just opened up the camper for the season and the awning will not open. I charged the battery prior to use but nothing is happening. The battery does not appear easily removed. Should I have removed it and stored it indoors over the winter? I tried operating the awning while the charger was plugged in and still nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried manually operating the awning first to verify that it's not a mechanical problem? It most likely is that your battery was dead for too long and now won't take any type of charge though since it probably sat totally dead for a few months. The replacement battery is the part # LC387959 you referenced. Ideally you would have left it charging over the winter or periodically put it on a charger to keep it topped off.
