Offset Style Spare Tire Carrier for 15 Inch Wheel

Question:

I have a triple axel trailer with 15inch wheel 5 on 4.5. Idont see any reason why this carrier would not fit that wheel but it says it will only fit 9-14inch wheels ? which carrier shoud I use.

We have actually reached out to Dutton-Lainson in the past regarding the specific reasoning as to why they don't recommend using wheels larger than 14 inches on the Offset Spare Tire Carrier # DL22120. They said that it's not the physical size that's an issue but the heavier weight that would be present on a larger wheel. The welds on this particular unit simply aren't rated to handle the weight of a standard 15 inch tire and wheel combo.

For an offset style carrier that can support a 15 inch wheel like what you have I recommend the Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier # FSTC1000301. This carrier works with 10 inch or larger wheels and is compatible with your 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. It will mount to trailer tongues that are up to 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall.
