Trailer Hub Grease Recommendation for Jayco JayFeather with Lippert Axles
Updated 05/10/2019 | Published 05/09/2019 >
Question:
I have a 2018 Jayco Jayfeather travel trailer with Lippert E-Z Lube axles. I need to know what grease they use on the wheel bearings when the axles leave their plant. I want to be sure to use the same grease they use so it is compatible when it comes time to grease the bearings. I was told they use Lithoplex Red MP#2 which is a Lithium based grease. I was going to use Lubrimatic Red L11390, which is also Lithium based. However, I understand you should not mix different types of grease. Would the Lubrimatic be okay to use or should I use their Lithoplex until I repack the bearings and then switch to Lubrimatic? Also, is it okay to use the E-Z lube zerks or is there a danger of blowing out the seals? Ive heard both good and bad and am confused. Thank you.

The LMX red grease like the Lubrimatic LMX part # L11390 that you referenced is what I recommend. This is perfectly compatible with the Lithium based grease your hubs have in them now and is considered to be the most heavy duty option available.
Using the EZ Lube fitting isn't a terrible idea, but it is easy to blow out the seal with them. If you can pack the hubs by hand that's the route I would recommend as that's much safer. Especially when you consider that once the drums and assemblies get grease on them they glaze and never work as well again. I attached a video link on this for you to check out as well.
