Can 2016 Nissan Frontier 4WD be Flat Towed

Question:

I did some checking and your 2016 Nissan Frontier, 4WD can be flat towed as-is if the vehicle has a manual transmission or if you have an automatic transmission you'd need a driveshaft disconnect. We carry basically everything but the drive shaft disconnect. You can use the Demco tow bar part # DM9511012 that you referenced. You'll need the base plate kit # DM9518186 which is confirmed as a fit for your Frontier. For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV. And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BRK2016, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. The base plate kit and the drive shaft disconnect would be biggest modifications you'd need to make to the Frontier to flat tow it. If you went with the lighting kit I mentioned you would need to splice it into the taillight circuits. Or we have magnetic kits like the # TL21RK which would not require any modification to install as they basically just attach to the rear bumper or truck bed rails.
