Recommended Shank or Over-Under Conversion for Level Towing with Blue Ox Weight Distribution System

Updated 04/03/2019 | Published 04/02/2019

Question:

I got the 2k kit and they swapped out the shank for the 7 hole but I’m still not level so can’t tell if the swap is cause I’m nose up or something wrong with trailer. What’s your recommendation. 9 hole ??

Since you have the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank for 2" Hitches - 9" Long - 7 Hole Adjustment # BXW4000 and are still nose high, I would normally recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank for 2" Hitches - 9" Long - 9 Hole Adjustment # BXW4002 to give you a total 4-1/2 inch drop whether using round bars or trunnion bars. The issue is that shank is only rated for 1,500 lbs.

The only shank rated higher is the Gen-Y Torsion Weight Distribution Shank - 2" Hitches - 6-1/2" Drop/Rise - 1,700 lbs TW # 325-GH-1202 which still is not rated high enough or the adjustable shank for dual hitch receivers like # TLM9011.

Your other option if your trailer is nose high is to use an over-under kit on your axles to raise the trailer and thus the coupler height. We have the # K71-384-00 for 2-3/8 inch axles (3,500 lb axles) and the # K71-385-00 for 3 inch axles (4,400-7,000 lb axles). Based on your trailer setup, this is my recommendation. If you have torsion axles let me know as there may be a lift kit for those as well.
