Recommended Ball Mount for 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander to Tow 2016 Scamp Trailer Level

Question:

I have a 2016 scamp 16foot just purchased a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander had hitch and brake activator etc installed. Hitch receiver only approx 8inch off ground. Spec for 16 ft scamp calls for approx. 21. Someone told me I need air shocks or bags. I bought a ball extension which is 8inch so now Im about 16inch off ground w/extension rated at 600lb tongue weight. Do I need suspension work air bags or will that jack me up enough to get required height? Pls help want to travel, most of all want to be safe.

For the height off the ground we measure from the top inside of the receiver tube to the ground. Then for a ball mount it sounds like you have an 8 inch rise which isn't quite tall enough. We have a couple of taller fixed mount options in the Draw-Tite Ball Mount - 9-3/4" Rise # 80248 and the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 10-3/4" Rise # AMSC12 but that still won't get you to the exact height needed. The Convert-A-Ball option will get you close enough to be safe but the trailer won't be perfectly level. I've attached an article on measuring for the ball mount height to assist.

To be level you would need the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2" Hitch - 12-1/2" Drop - 10K # 325-GH-326 used in the rise position.

If the rear of your Outlander is sagging, then you can use the SumoSprings # CSS-1125R which is the only fit for your vehicle we carry. The safest option is to use these springs and the GEN-Y ball mount.
