E-Bike Rack And Hitch Adapter Needed To Haul Bikes And Flat Tow With A Class A Motorhome

Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/15/2024

Question:

I have a class a motorhome with blue ox tow bar towing a 2024 Chev Colorado. Looking for a bike rack to carry two e-bikes weighing about 65 lbs each. I want the bike rack to mount between the rv and the Colorado. Concerned that the bike rack might hit the Colorado on full turns? Can you help?

Hey Paul,

For your setup I recommend the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack # HLY64FR. This rack has an 80lb per bike capacity and is going to stick out about 32" from the center of the motorhome's trailer hitch pin hole. It has adjustable clamps that can accommodate a variety of frame styles without having to use an adapter. To help the bike rack clear the front of the truck you could just use a stacked receiver, like the Gen-Y # 325-GH-326, with a larger rise to set the rack higher for more clearance.

Hey Paul, how did the Hollywood Racks RV Rider work out between your motorhome and the Colorado? Did the extra rise from the stacked receiver give you enough clearance on turns? Your update could make it easier for others towing a similar setup.

@KateF No it didn’t work out as I didn’t have enough clearance between coach and toad. We bought a hitch to attach to our toad.
