Trimming Fascia on 2017 Ford Fusion Energi to Install Draw-Tite Receiver Hitch # 24897
Updated 03/19/2019 | Published 03/17/2019 >
Question:
In the instructions it says that for a Ford Fusion Energi the fascia panel that is removed in other installs need to be trimmed and reinstalled for the Energi models to protect the battery. Do you have instructions/videos for that process? How difficult is that process? Thanks!

When installing the Draw-Tite Class I Receiver Hitch # 24897 on your 2017 Ford Fusion Energi (along with the other hitch models available for this vehicle) you will indeed want to trim the rear fascia instead of removing it completely in order to protect the battery. This really shouldn't add much if any time to the install process as it's just going to take the place of having to remove all of the nuts and screws that would be required to remove the entire panel.
The fascia will just need to be trimmed in a couple locations behind the rear tires using a Dremel or tin snips. I have attached an image that shows where the fascia will be trimmed. We do not currently have any videos showing this process but it should not be too difficult.
