Question:
Hello I just purchased Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire - 205/65-10 - Load Range E for my snowmobile trailer. The tire states max psi 90. It is an enclosed 20x8 foot trailer that has dual axles. 90 seems way to much? What psi should I run the tires at?

Expert Reply:
Your Kenda Loadstar Bias Ply tires # AM1HP56 require inflation to their specified 90-psi COLD pressure in order to deliver their rated weight load capacity of 1650-lbs and their speed rating N, which indicates they're good to 87-mph.
These and most other special trailer tires are intended to be inflated at all times to their maximum cold pressure indicated on the sidewall. As a tire warms up from operation its pressure will also naturally rise somewhat. Increases in ambient temperature will also cause pressure to vary; each 10 degrees Fahrenheit change equates to roughly 1 pound psi change.
In general smaller tires like these 10-inchers typically have higher psi pressure requirements than larger ones. You may care to refer to the linked article for more information about trailer tires.
