Why Does Auto-Leveling System on 2018 Nissan Armada Need to be Disabled to Use Equal-i-zer System

Updated 03/13/2019 | Published 03/11/2019

Question:

I was curious if you could expand on a previous post in which it was stated that if using the equalizer system then the self leveling function would need to be disabled. I have an equalizer that I used on my 2008 Pathfinder and am curious about the set up. 2018 Armada SL 4wd and Jayflight 26 BH w max trailer weight 7000Lbs.

I would be happy to help you figure out how to setup an Equal-i-zer weight distribution (WD) on your 2018 Nissan Armada towing your Jay Flight 26BH.

Equal-i-zer states that auto-leveling systems should be disabled when using their WD systems because the auto-leveling feature can actually end up working against the WD system and change (likely decrease) the effects of the Equal-i-zer system. If you have aftermarket air bag suspension then they state to inflate the air bags to the desired psi before setting up your WD system. Since auto-leveling systems can't be manually controlled they have a different stipulation.

The system part # EQ37100ET with the 600 lb - 1,000 lb tongue weight rande will be perfect for your application since your loaded tongue weight plus the weight of any cargo behind your rear axle should fall into this range. Please note that the Equal-i-zer system does come with a hitch ball but it is recommended to use a 1-7/8" thin-walled socket like part # EQ70-00-4800 to install the hitch ball due to limited clearance inside the hitch head.
