Instead of running power wire to battery can I use as the power source the power plug in the rear cargo area of the vw? 2017 VW Tiguan

It is not recommended to use a different power supply for the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. The 12V power wire is designed to be run directly from the battery to ensure correct voltage and correct amperage while avoiding the vehicle fuses and relays. Although it is possible that rear power supply could work, it has not been tested for that application, so it is not recommended.

For your 2017 VW Tiguan, I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118675 which is a custom fit. It still requires the power wire, but will directly connect to your factory wiring behind the tail lights.
