need a slider hitch, 18K or better. Ram 2500 is short bed. don't want a junk hitch.

If your Ram 2500 with 6-1/2-foot bed has the factory 5th wheel prep (with mounting pucks in the bed) then I strongly recommend going with Demco's 18K Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034 and the matching installation kit # DM6099.

Not only does the Demco have 14-inches of slider travel (more than most slider hitches) it slides automatically when you make a turn. No more getting out of the truck (in the rain, of course) to release a manual slider. This USA-made Demco is shown in the linked video. If you don't have the factory prep you can still use this automatic hitch by installing base rail kit # DM8552025-71 instead of part # DM6099 and if you need an in-bed wiring harness use part # DM8555002.

If you have the OEM prep package and prefer a manual slider with excellent USA build quality I would go with the 20K B&W Companion # BWRVK3670. This slider requires no installation kit since it can drop directly into your factory pucks. It features 12-inches of slider travel and extra-thick 1-inch machined jaws and polyurethane bushings for solid rattle-free connection to your king pin. B&W fabricates and assembles entirely in their Kansas facility.
