Question:

Hi. Im looking at a self install of the Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K. I see the instructions require assembly of the locking levers. I can tell from the videos Ive see if those come already preassembled or if every component of the hitch has to be assembled. Some look like only the pivot arms need to be attached. Can you let me know if there is any preassembly done, or does everything have to be assembled? Thank you.

Welcome back Mike and congrats on your new truck! The B&W Companion item # BWRVK3670 is exactly what you need for a 2026 Ram 3500 with the factory puck system. It does not come preassembled.

I went ahead and linked the owner's manual for the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3670 below. You are correct you will need to install the locking levers that connect the slider base to your Ram's puck system.

The pivoting arms, a leveling kit, and the coupler handle will also need to be assembled on the base of the item # BWRVK3670. Once you get all of that done all you'll need to do is attach the head with the included pins and you'll be ready to go.

What kind of pin box do you have and are you still pulling your 2006 Weekend Warrior Toy Hauler or did you upgrade?

Hey Mike. Mine came assembled. You have to put the pivot head on and then adjust the puck locking levers for a good fit. About a 30 minute installation

Mike, my locking levers came pre assembled. I had to remove the cotter pin and make adjustments for the hitch to fit flush in my bed. It was very easy and exactly like they showed in the installation video. Use caution on mounting the pivot arms. I initially installed them where it would put the hitch closer to the tailgate versus closer to the cab. Unfortunately the first time I was backing into a tight spot my trailer’s tongue struck my tailgate and bent my tailgate. Not sure if it was due to my trailer’s design but needless to say that was no fun. I ended up installing the pivot arms where it placed the hitch closer to the cab and have not had any problems since then.

@James. Thanks for the heads up. I also installed mine so the king pin would be closer to the rear of my truck bed since I have the Ram mega cab. I was afraid if I mounted it the other way, the cap of the trailer would be too close to the cab and risk hitting it. Definitely will have to go slow my first couple of times to make sure I have the proper set up.

I have a 2024 RAM 2500 w/ the factory bed hard points. I believe I bought the exact hitch. My locking levers came preassembled. The cotter pins were there to just keep everything together and be reused. They are very simple to assemble if they happen to come loose. Like everyone else, I had to adjust the levers to fit my truck for a snug fit. Not a big deal, but it had to be done. I can see why they do this because not everyone purchasing this hitch gets the factory hard points. Other minor assembly was required, but no big deal (glad hand and platen mount with grease and retaining pins). I have been very happy with this hitch so far. I have only had to slide the platten aft twice to get into a very tight spot, but sure glad I had the option to do it!

My purchase was delivered with the puck locking pivot arms pre-assembled; entire unit was boxed and on a pallet. You will likely need to adjust the pivot arm castle nuts to get the desired fit when locking in the handles. This takes a little trial and error and is well explained in the assembly instructions. Torque all nuts and bolts to the manual’s mfr. specs. Not a difficult install, but get some help with lifting that sucker into the bed of your truck.
