Mounting Thule Ski Carrier to Vault Roof Rack with T-Slots

Question:

I have an older but well built Thule 4 ski carrier. My newer car has a vault roof rack and I need to replace the existing square latch to fit the more oblong shaped vault rack. I have attached pictures of each. Which latch system will work for my ski carrier? The vault also has a T-chamber, but there are no descriptions using it to attach carriers. Please recommend a way to attach my ski carrier. Thanks.

Thank you for the photo of your Thule ski carrier that looks much like their SnowPack # TH7326. The ski carrier hardware shown in your photo appears to be for mounting it on Thule square crossbars.

You may be able to mount this on your Vault rack without any other parts. Unscrew the plastic wing knob and then try to remove the T-bolt from that square bracket assembly. If you can remove it you can then test-fit the T-bolt in the top channel on your Vault bars. If it fits securely you can probably attach the carrier to this rack using those T-bolts without need for any other parts. As long as you can tighten the ski carrier to the bars using the Thule bolts and wing knobs you should be all set.

Most brands of bars with T-slots or channels can use the majority of available accessories from other brands.
