Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Yakima Aero Crossbar Smart T-Slot Kit. This conversion kit is going to allow you to mount your FatCat or FatCat EVO to a T-slot crossbar. This is going to allow for a quick and easy installation. It's also going to have a nice low profile look for you. So rather than having the clamps that wrap around your crossbars, and these will allow you to just slide right in to those T-slots on those crossbars.
Now, this is going to work with the Yakima JetStream, FlushBar, RailBar, and most other T-slot style crossbars. They do include instructions to help you get everything set up properly so you can ensure that your ski and snowboard carrier, as well as your skis and snowboards, are going to have a nice, snug fit onto those crossbars. So you are going to get four of these spacers, as well as four bolts. And this does come with a limited lifetime warranty, so you can trust it is going to hold up well. And because it is coming from Yakima, you can trust it is gonna integrate well with the FatCat and FatCat EVO system.

Used these to remount a Yakima ski/board rack on our Audi Q5. A lot easier to use than the stock mounts the rack came with. More importantly it lowered the rack making it much easier to load and unload our skis.
It's such a simple product, but makes such a huge difference in terms of speed of installing/uninstalling the racks, aerodynamics, and style! Still plenty of clearance for my bindings between the rack and tonneau.

The T-Slot kit definitely gives a better-looking, lower profile than the aero bar straps that come with the FatCat. Super easy to put on and remove. Gives your more placement options, where the towers limit your positioning with the aero bar straps.
These worked great to retrofit my older (2008?) FatCat Evo6 carriers and be able to mount them on stock 2024 Mercedes cross bars. Very easy installation.

Exactly what I wanted and what it was designed for!
This SmarT-Slot kit is perfect for my ski carrier and Yakima rack. What is equally exceptional is etrailer's service. Although this kit was out of stock, I was able to order it and they gave me constant communications on the status of my order. They're a great company to deal with on both big and small items like this one. Can't say enough.
Just what I needed.
Good product cleans up the overall look of the carrier. I does deform the rubber wind slot on your rack so when removed you here a whistle for several days until rubbers heats back up with sun and it falls back into place.
With the durability of the Yakima accessories the ability to take advantage of the t-slot system and retro fit my big ski racks that had the wrap around clamps makes swapping on and off ski racks a breeze. Like everything outdoor related during the pandemic these were on back order everywhere. Yakima told me to order from etrailer because they restock their resellers before their own parts warehouse. Customer service and communication on order status was prompt and often. The ability to now slide on the ski racks through the t-slots on the ends instead of the multi step oval screw down clamps that came with my fat cat 6 takes all the hassle out of putting racks on for a day in the mountains, getting home and sliding them off in 2 minutes so I’m not keeping them on all season.
Extremely helpful advice. Helped me find a hard to find accessory piece and provided better insights on the needed parts than the manufacturer.
