I wonder that whats different # RR43173 and 43174? vehicle of the year 2016 Make Toyota Prius of Hatch 4 which is roof rack with aero style crossbars.

The difference between the Rhino-Rack Mounting Brackets # RR43173 and # RR43174 is that the former is meant to be mounted on a Pioneer Platform Rack like part # RR42114BF while the latter is meant to me mounted on Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero bars like part # RRVA126B-2 for your 2016 Toyota Prius.
If the OEM crossbars that you have on your Prius have the T-Slots then the second option may work for you. I went to the warehouse and found that the pieces that fit into the T-Slot measure 1/4" thick (tall) and 3/4" wide.
