How to Know if Installation of Curt Hitch C13382 Requires CM-SP16 Spacers

Question:

2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited - installation instructions state: Raise hitch into position using CM-SP16 spacers to level hitch as necessary. How do I know if the spacers are necessary? Instructional video and installation instructions only show one spacer used at the front hole of hitch. Please advise.

Spacers are provided with just about all hitches since there can be slight variances between vehicles, even similarly-equipped vehicles of the very same model year. You'll want to use the CM-SP16 spacers if the hitch mounting flanges do not rest flat against the frame rail. If the flanges make full contact with the frame along their entire length then you do not need the CM-SP16 spacers.
