Question:

Friends, please advise the correct 4 and 7 pin vehicle trailer connector for 2017 Subaru Outback wagon. I also need a permanent bracket to mount the connector. I have a 2008 Fleetwood tent trailer with electric brakes. Thank you for your youtube videos. However, I need confirmation of the correct parts to purchase, including diagrams.

In order to install a fully functional 4- and 7-Way connector on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon you will need to start with a 4-Way harness if you don't already have one. For this I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467. This custom harness will simply plug into factory ports located in the rear cargo area on the Outback. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference.

Then with the 4-Way installed (or if you already have one on the vehicle) you will need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything needed to install a fully functional 7-Way from the existing 4-Way along with the circuit breakers and extra wiring needed to install a brake controller. I have attached the complete installation instructions that you can check out.

Since your Fleetwood trailer is equipped with electric brakes you will also need to add a brake controller to your vehicle. I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is an excellent proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Outback. It features an easy-to-read digital display, 3 boost settings, and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues.

I have attached a diagram below that clarifies how all the wires will run when everything is installed.
