Is the 600 lb Rating of the Reese Lift Bracket # RP21501 Per Bracket
Published 08/15/2018 >
Question:
I just purchased a travel trailer with 850lb tongue weight. I have a Reese dual cam weight distribution kit on an existing, smaller travel trailer. I see the weigh rating for the Reese 21501 snap up bracket is 600lbs. Does this mean with two of these brackets, I am good up to 1200lbs?

The Reese Lift Bracket # RP21501 is rated for Reese weight distribution (WD) systems that have a tongue weight (TW) capacity, or rating, of up to 600 lbs. These are the brackets that would be used on a WD system like the Strait-Line # RP66082 which has a TW range of 200 lbs - 600 lbs.
Since you have a heavier TW with your new trailer you will need to use the Reese Heavy Duty Snap-Up Bracket # 58392 instead which is used for WD systems that are rated for 800 lbs TW and up, like the Strait-Line # RP66074 with a rating of 600 lbs - 1,200 lbs.
Please note that your whole WD system needs to be rated properly for your heavier trailer. Be sure that the loaded TW of your trailer added with any weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle falls within the TW range of your WD system. The TW of a properly loaded trailer should be 10% of the loaded trailer.
