Mounting Hardware and Hinge for Karrite Voyager
Published 07/23/2018 >
Question:
I recently acquired an older Karrite voyager roof shell. I have an issue when I close the one side it bends the plastic and will not shut correctly. I would guess I need a new hinge? If that is the case which kind should I go with? Also to replace the key locks that are broken which I have no keys for, which locks would work for this make and model. Lastly could I use ratchet straps to secure it to my subaru outback/legacy roof rack.

We do not have exact replacement parts for the Karrite Voyager so you'll need to put somethings together that are replacements for other boxes. For the hinge the Replacement Spring Hinge for SportRack Explorer Cargo Box # SR03810 will likely work, but because it's not designed to be used with the Karrite I cannot absolutely guarantee a fit.
As for the locks and mounting the Karrite, you can't use ratchet straps; I recommend the Replacement Mounting Kit for Thule Sidekick Cargo Box TH04958 which should work well; it comes with locks as well as keys.
