What Causes PL and .c. Error Code on Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller
Published 07/19/2018 >
Question:
My prodigy p2 constantly flashes .c. when not connected to my trailer. Flashes pl when brakes are applied. Thought it may be corrosion so I replaced 7 point plu on truck. What could cause these codes?

The code ".c." indicates that the boost feature is engaged or the trailer is connected. The best route to fix this issue is to trace the tow package wiring from the 7-way as far foward as possible, looking for any damaged sections. I would also make sure the brake controller wiring is properly connected under the dash.
The code "PL" indicates power interruption while brake pedal is pressed according to the instruction manual for the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 that is linked on this page. This code indicates that the controller is losing power on the black wire when you press the brake pedal or use the manual override. It's likely caused by a loose connection with the black wire so that's the first thing to check.
Also make sure all of the splices under the dash are good and make sure none of the wires are loose at the connector.
I've also linked a help article on troubleshooting brake controllers for you.
