Location of OEM Wiring Connector on 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon
Updated 06/25/2018 | Published 06/21/2018 >
Question:
I still cannot find the plug to pull down out of wheel well of 2017 outback to connect a towing wire harness. There is a loop of black wire, with some blue tape around it, that is in the location where it should be but I cannot pull it out and cannot view the white end plug that may be attached. Question for someone familiar with subaru. Is that look connected to what I want or could that be something else? If it is the right cord I will put more pressure on it to pull it out. I hate just yanking on stuffI already pulled out some kind of reatainer reaching for the plug. And is there anyway to take the cargo net holder out to gain a little more access to find this thing? Thanks.

Thank you for your purchase of Curt 4-Pole Wiring Harness kit # C56040 which is a confirmed fit on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon (excluding the Sport Edition). We had the chance to install this harness for a local customer and the linked video shows the installation process.
Our technician located the white plastic OEM connector behind the carpet in the front/left corner of the cargo area as shown in the video at the 3:40 mark. Please check your owner's manual starting on page 6-15 for information on the cargo area cover.
