The Demco Recon 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550043 is made up of the Head Unit # DM6169 and Base Assembly # DM6180, with each piece weighing 50 lbs, making this most lightweight, easy-to-handle fifth wheel hitch available.

In terms of locking it the only security measure is a Base Rail Lock # C23256 which locks the hitch to your base rails. There is no way to padlock it to prevent someone from releasing the hitch, though you'd have to be extraordinarily unlucky for someone to just walk by and release the hitch so it's not something that should be particularly concerning.

The Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120 weighs a total of 112 lbs with the head unit # C16520 weighing 84 lbs and the Base Legs # C16920 weighing 28 lbs. The overall weight of this hitch is similar to the Recon, but it won't be as easy to handle overall due to how much heavier the head unit is.
