13 inch Trailer Tire Recommendation for Tow Dolly
Published 05/24/2018 >
Question:
I am seeing a bunch of different specs on these tires. I want to put two of this size tire on a tow dolly, but I am seeing a lot of load range C tires rather than load range D and the difference in load capacity is significant. So what do I have to do to ensure that I am getting the product that I want and is it better to have radials since I will be mostly on paved roads with the dolly, or are bias ply tires as good a choice for this use? The car that I will be loading on the dolly is a full sized sedan that weighs in at around 3000 to 3500 pounds potentially, and I am very concerned about the capacity of the dolly and the safety of the towing arrangement.

Radials are the way to go for highway use like you said you'd be using your dolly with. For a 13 inch trailer tire that's a radial the Karrier Tire part # AM10210 which is a size ST175/80R13 would be a great option. It has a capacity of 1,610 lbs at 65 psi and an 81 mph speed rating.
