Rear Helper Springs for a 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 Towing 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailers

Published 05/18/2018

Question:

Good morning, I have a 2017 Silverado 2500hd duramax and tow a either a fifth wheel camper or my gooseneck equipment trailer about 20 times a year. Both seem to have about 2500 lbs of pin weight so I am considering air bags or Timbrens for the rear to help with sag and keep it off the factory bump stops. Cost isnt as much of a concern as I am looking for something with easy installation and reliability which leans me into the Timbrens. The only thing is that the air lift bags say 60 days money back guarantee but the Timbrens dont say that. I have had air before and really wanted to try the Timbrens but wanted to know if they offered a satisfaction guarantee like the bags do in case I hate them?

Timbren springs # TGMRCK25D have a Limited lifetime warranty and satisfaction is guaranteed. Take a look at the very last line on page 2 of the instructions I have linked for you.

Considering your application I would not recommend Timbren springs as the best option. Times when you are not towing will not compress the springs and you will have a stiffer ride. Air bags such as # F2709 are a better option for towing 5th wheel and gooseneck trailers since you can adjust them by adding or removing air and they will have limited impact on the empty ride quality.

If you would rather go with something other than air bags you might like SumoSprings # SSR-207-47. These are similar to Timbren springs but they have more give and will have less of an impact on empty ride quality in comparison to the Timbren springs.
