Should There Be Excessive Play in a Reese Revolution Pin Box

Updated 06/08/2020 | Published 05/16/2018

Question:

Should I be able to move my revolution hitch back and fourth by hand on my 2018 rockwood 5th wheel, it takes a little effort but not as much as I would have thought.

I spoke to my conact at Reese about your Reese Revolution Pin Box and they informed me that it is not uncommon for there to be a bit of movement. However, what I recommend doing is to make sure all of the fasteners and lubrication points are torqued and properly greased as laid out in the owner's manual for the pin box.

If you still feel the pin box is not as tight as it should be you would then need to drop the turret and inspect the rubber wear tube and rubber wear plate. If these parts were not greased properly then it could cause them to fail prematurely. If any of the bushings need replaced then I recommend a repair kit. If you have a 10k Revolution you will need part # RP86110 but if you have a 16K or 19K Revolution then you will need part # RP86005.

It is not a bad idea to have a rebuild kit laying around should anything happen to the pin box and you could not afford to wait for the parts to show up.

I have a Reese revolution 10k for my 5th wheel, the wear plate installation states "4. Place new wear plate onto the Revolution Arm, making sure the chamfer side faces down. Question: I cannot determine what the chamfer side means? Can you help me.... Thank you,

There will be a slight angle on the edging of the wear plate - this is the chamfer side and what you'll want facing down when installing it.
