Question:
Im interested in Item # HM40975-11933 for my 2005 Jeep Wrangler. In the pictures it shows the wiring only a few inches long. Is there a longer piece that comes with it to connect to my tail lights or do I need another connection piece with it? If so do you know which one I need for my vehicle?

The reason the wiring harness of the Hopkins 7-Way Kit part # HM40975-11933 seems short is because it's for connecting to existing trailer wiring on your 2005 Jeep Wrangler. If your Wrangler did not have a 7-way present at the rear of it then this would not work.
You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118409.
Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.
If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
