What Material is the etrailer Cargo Bag Made of and What Size Carriers Will it Fit

Question:
1. have a highlander, will heat from the exhaust melt the bag? 2. the hitch size is 60 X 19 X 14 hight of the bars above hitch platformwill it fit? 3. What is the bag material made of? I want to transport tent poles, will they poke throught the bag material?

Expert Reply:
Depending on the height of the cargo carrier and how far away it is from the exhaust will determine on if the bag is in jeopardy or not. If the exhaust exits at a downward angle, there should not be any problem. But if it exits directly at the carrier, there could be problems if it is too close.
The etrailer.com Extra Large Cargo Carrier Bag, # 988501, is made of very heavy duty PVC coated nylon ripstop material that is rainproof and heavily constructed. Under normal driving conditions, a tent pole should not be able to puncture the bag, but I Recommend Wrapping the pole ends with a old bath towel or some other material to keep them from puncturing the bag.
Because the bag is wider than your cargo carrier, it will fit but there will be some of the bag that will need to be tucked into the carrier. Instead, I recommend the etrailer Cargo Bag, # e98990, which will fit.
