Updated 04/23/2018 | Published 04/20/2018 >
Question:
I have a 2002 chevy Avalanche and having trouble with the trailer running lights. I have changed the 7 pin connector on the back of the truck but still dont have running lights everything else is working correctly. Its not the trailer because I have tried it on a different truck and they are working fine . Any help would be great thanks.

Since you have determined it is not an issue on the trailer side the most likely problem is bad ground on your 2002 Avalanche; you'll want to make sure your ground is securely attached to a bare metal surface free of any paint, dirt or corrosion of any kind. If ground area is already clean, disconnect the ground wire and attach it to a long piece of wire. Then run this wire to the vehicle's negative battery terminal for testing, and if this solves the issue, the ground wire can be permanently run to the negative battery terminal or moved to a new location with a verified connection to ground.
