Expert Reply:
For some vehicles there is an install harness that will allows for a quick brake controller install, but not all vehicles come equipped with this. Your 2017 GMC Savana does not have this and you'd have to hardwire in a controller.
Vehicles with the 7-Way tow package have the blue output brake wire already ran from the back to the front. It is located under the dash near the emergency brake pedal. Some models will require a wiring kit to run wire to the battery. This may require drilling a hole in the firewall to run the wire. You may use kit # 5506 which includes 20, 30, and 40 amp breakers.
You'll then need to test the wires that lead to the brake pedal of the vehicle for voltage when the brakes are applied. That will be the correct wire to use for the red wire of the controller.
