Can the 2" Version of the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Be Converted to a 1-1/4"

Hi, I have a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack - 2inch Hitches - Tilting - Aluminum - Gray Item # SH22G that fits the 2receiver on my 2017 outback but now Im considering buying a newer malibu that appears to only accomodate a 1.25inch hitch. what are my options in terms of converting my kuat? thanks

What you will want to do to convert the 2" shank you have on your Kuat Sherpa 2.0 part # SH22G to a 1-1/4" shank like the one one the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 part # SH12G is replace the lower end with center beam. We do not carry this part but you can contact Kuat directly and ask for part 016-007.
Once you replace the 2" shank with the 1-1/4" shank, you can then use an adapter like part # D101 which will allow you to use the rack in both 1-1/4" and 2" receiver tube openings. If you can let me know the year of the Chevrolet Malibu you intend to buy then I would be happy to help you choose the correct trailer hitch receiver.
